KILLING OF YOUTH IN IOK CONTINUES TO DRAW FLAK

In occupied Kashmir, various political and social organizations have strongly condemned the killing of a youth, Arshad Ahmad Shah, and injuring of four others in firing by Indian troops at Sopore in Baramulla district.

According to Media sources, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar   termed the authorities’ action as the worst kind of state terrorism and lawlessness. He , said, “It is the shameful act on the part of the puppet administration that, on the one hand, the authorities were killing innocent children and, on the other, we are not allowed to express solidarity with their families.

The veteran leader also termed the arrest of Hurriyet leaders and imposition of curfew in Sopore as grave human rights violations.

Hurriyet leaders, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash and Shabbir Ahmad Dar in a joint statement expressed grief and shock over the cold blooded murder.

Democratic Political Movement Chairman Firdous Ahmad Shah and General Secretary Advocate Muhammad Shafi Reshi termed the killing as barbaric. “The Indian forces have been given a licence to kill and are on a killing spree especially youth to sustain their illegal control of the territory. 

Doctors’ Association Kashmir (DAK) President Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan, while denouncing the Sopore incident, termed it barbaric and brutal. “By resorting to indiscriminate firing on peaceful protestors shows sheer frustration and anger of security forces.,” he added.

Hurriyet leader Javid Ahmad Mir, while condemning the killing, said, “Such acrs only strengthen our resolve to see the forces out of our motherland.”

The Muslim Khawateen Markaza, demanding culprits involved in the killing, be brought to book expressed anguish at Arshad’s killing by forces.

The Muslim League Jammu Kashmir, while condemning the Sopore killing, termed it a ‘cowardly act’ by the armed forces. In a statement, the League spokesman paid glowing tributes to Shaheed Arhad and expressed solidarity with his family. He also pray for the speedy recovery of those injured in the firing. 

Hurriyet leader, Syed Saleem Gilani, has shot letters to ICRC, Amnesty International, Human Rights Commission of India and other rights organizations stressing them to send their observers to Kashmir to take notice of continuing rights’ violations.
