veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has condemned the killing of another civilian in Sopore
According to media sources, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar, expressing deep sorrow, grief and surprise over the killing of youth in Sopore, said that the persons or the agencies involved in such types of incidents were not only the enemies of the humanity but they were also working against the freedom struggle of the Kashmiris and the act was purely a terrorist one.
He said, “Picture about the killers is unclear yet but the recent statement of the Indian Defense Minister, Manohar Parrikar that “target killings and terrorism is the solution of the militancy in Kashmir” gives birth to many questions and doubts and in this perspective we can’t rule out another angle of these actions that it may be the deliberate attempt to put the terrorist tag on the freedom struggle of Kashmiris.”
He said that the telecommunication was working as a lifeline in the modern era and the life looked impossible without the system. “It is no crime to work in this sector and it can’t be the base to kill anybody”, he added.
Syed Ali Gilani said that they would also try to collect the details and information about the unfortunate incidents from the common people and the eyewitnesses. “We will not hesitate in raising our voice against those people or agencies behind these inhuman incidents and it is also our religious responsibility,” he maintained.
Former Indian Home Minister P Chidambaram has said that Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar should immediately withdraw his terrible remark in which he said “you have to neutralise terrorist through terrorist only”.
According to media sources, “A terrible statement by the Defence Minister. I hope he recognises the enormity of the statement he made and quickly finds a way to withdraw it,” Chidambaram said at the Congress party briefing in Jammu, the other day.
Asked about his reaction to the remarks made by Pakistan Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Sartaj Aziz that Parrikar’s statement had confirmed their apprehensions about India’s involvement in terrorism in that country, Chidambaram said, “Parrikar’s statement is completely out of line and he should withdraw it immediately.”
Stating that he would take “proactive steps” to meet any threat to the country, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had, on Thursday, said that “you have to neutralise terrorist through terrorist only”. To underline his point, Parrikar had quoted a Hindi saying “kaante se kaanta nikaalte hain” (you have to extract a thorn with a thorn) and said: “Why can’t we do it? We should do it. Why my soldier has to do it all the time?”
