Tosa Maidan lease extension aimed at prolonging occupation

In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) has said that the proposed extension in the lease agreement of Tosa Maidan land to Indian Army is a part of India’s plan to perpetuate its illegal occupation over Jammu and Kashmir.

The APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the Indian army had occupied hundreds of thousands acres land including important tourism spots due to which the historical places were losing their importance and beauty.

The spokesman said that a seminar will be organised on Wednesday at the APHC headquarters in Srinagar to highlight the harmful effects of the lease extension. Speakers including eminent intellectuals, environmentalists and jurists are expected to express their views in the seminar, he added.

Meanwhile, the open letter written by the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, to the people of India was also sent to ambassadors, high commissioners and diplomats of different countries in New Delhi.
