In occupied Kashmir, the Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has questioned the puppet authorities for frequently closing the educational institutions as a policy to contain students’ agitation against oppression. According to media sources, a Hurriyat forum spokesperson in a statement in Srinagar said, “Schools, colleges and universities are being closed by the authorities as a policy to contain student agitation against oppression causing great loss to the students.”The statement said the authorities showed a great deal of concern regarding the education of Kashmiri students, last year. “Since early this year, educational institutions are repeatedly shut by them. Does it not matter now?” the spokesperson asked. “Another way to contain the situation is blocking internet services randomly and repeatedly. Despite such severe repression and curbs people of Kashmir are coming out on the streets to register their protest against oppression and killings and resistance to forcible control,” he said. “The propaganda that anyone gets paid for protesting is baseless. People protest because there is severe repression and suppression in every form and our youth and civilians are killed mercilessly by the forces,” the statement added. “Unless the basic issue of Kashmir is addressed, resistance to repression and for justice will manifest itself in one way or other but will not die out as some believe such tactics can achieve,” it added.
