Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has denounced puppet authorities for imposing curfew in Srinagar, barring prayers in historic Srinagar Jamia Masjid for the sixth consecutive Friday and keeping the Mirwaiz under house detention for the past more than one and a half month. According to media sources, the Hurriyat forum in a statement issued in Srinagar also condemned the slapping of draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA), on a political activist, Atif Hassan, for his affiliation with the ongoing freedom movement and the shameless beating up of the mother and three sisters of a mujahid, Tauseef Ahmed, by Indian forces at Rampora in Kulgam. “There is no let up in oppression on the people of Kashmir. Kashmiris are killed brutally, arrested and detained, mosques locked up, curfews imposed, leadership persecuted and citizens harassed. What is worse is that even those Indian forces’ personnel who are convicted in fake encounters are set free, making mockery of justice,” the statement said. It said that the ongoing freedom movement in Kashmir was people’s political struggle based on priceless sacrifices offered by them over the past several decades.
