In occupied Kashmir, residents of Lawaypora village of Bandipora district staged demonstrations, today, against the arrests of four persons by Indian police.
According to media sources, the protesters said that the arrested persons were opposing the installation of high-voltage power transmission lines in residential areas. The protestors blocked Bandipora-Sopore road. Hundreds of vehicles including school buses were stranded because of the protest. “Instead of listening to our genuine concerns, the district administration arrested four villagers,” said a protestor. The villagers of Lawaypora have been demanding installation of tower outside the residential area to avoid any untoward incident.
