APHC General Secretary and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabbir Ahmed Shah, has appealed to the Kashmiri people to observe the martyrdom anniversary of popular youth leader, Burhan Wani, on Saturday as “Youm-e-Tajdeed-e-Ehad (day of reconfirmation of the pledge).
According to media sources, Shabbir Ahmed Shah in a statement issued in Srinagar said, it needs to be declared on the day that the struggle will continue till the dawn of freedom rises. He paid glorious tributes to Shaheed Burhan Wani and his two associates and said that their invaluable sacrifices were exemplary.
“Shaheed Burhan Wani will always remain alive in our hearts. He is a role model for our youth. In his brief lifespan, he changed the course of the ongoing freedom struggle. He will be an inspiration for generations to come,” he said.
The APHC leader said that the Kashmiris would never forget their martyrs who had laid down their lives during the ongoing mass uprising. He said that people’s participation in funeral prayers of these martyrs was a referendum against Indian occupation.
Shabbir Shah hailed the parents of Burhan Wani and said, “They gave birth to such a valour who made us proud. Shaheed Burhan Wani and his brother Shaheed Khalid Muzaffar Wani are the shining stars of our freedom movement and we are committed to the mission for which they sacrificed their lives.”
“The wounds of 2016 are still afresh in our minds and hearts and we cannot forget those children who were killed, maimed and blinded by brutal forces’ personnel. We pay tributes to the resilience exhibited by those who were arrested and continue to languish in jails and are subjected to political vengeance by the puppets of saffron brigade,” he said.
Shabbir Shah said that in 2016, many people including women were martyred in their homes. He said that the orders of probes into the killings also proved to be mere eyewash.
Meanwhile, APHC leader and the Chairman of Islamic Political Party, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, in a statement paid rich tributes to Burhan Wani and his two colleagues on their first martyrdom anniversary. He said that these martyrs infused a new life in freedom struggle. He also extended its full support to the protest programmes announced by the joint resistance leadership.
