In occupied Kashmir, the forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has strongly condemned the continued house detention of its Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in Srinagar. According to media sources, a spokesman of the forum in a statement issued in Srinagar said by barring Mirwaiz from carrying out religious, social and political activities to the extent of not allowing him to even offer Eid prayers reflects the level of vengefulness and frustration on the part of the occupation authorities. He said it seems that by curbing the movement of the Mirwaiz, Indian authorities are following their plan to keep him away from the people of Kashmir as much as possible. The spokesman further said that caging other leaders of the forum including Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and Hilal Ahmad War and others and raiding the residences of dozens of Hurriyat leaders and activists was highly condemnable. The puppet administration is hell-bent upon promoting repressive and totalitarian measures to suppress the genuine people’s movement aimed at achieving the goal of right to self-determination, the spokesman added.
