United Jihad Council (UJC) has issued a week-long programme on Burhan Wani’s anniversary in Kashmir, calling for a strike on July 8 and 13.
According to media sources, the UJC on Monday announced a week-long programme on the maiden death anniversary of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani. In a video message, UJC Chief Syed Salahuddin announced that Hafta-e-Shuhuda would be observed on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
To pay tributes to Burhan Wani and the 1931 martyrs, Salahuddin called for state-wide shutdown on July 8 and 13.
On July 13, 22 Kashmiris were killed while they were protesting against the autocratic regime of Maharaja Hari Singh outside Central Jail Srinagar. Salahuddin also appealed to people, resistance leadership and khateebs (clerics) to throw light on the importance of martyrdom during their Friday sermons.
“On July 8, complete strike would be observed to pay best tributes to Burhan Wani. Also, public gatherings would be held, especially in Tral township to pay homage to Wani,” said Salahuddin. He appealed to the people to visit the families of those who have lost their loved ones during the movement to express solidarity with them. “On July 10 and 11, people will visit the families of martyrs to express solidarity with them and help them financially,” he said.
Salahuddin said that huge public rallies would be held in Muzaffarabad and Rawalakote, Azad Kashmir, on July 8 and 13 to pay homage to Burhan Wani and the 1931 martyrs.
