Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has strongly condemned the nocturnal raids by Indian police on the residences of pro-freedom leaders and activists and harassment of their family members on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to media sources, the forum spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar also denounced the continued house arrest of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and preventing him from attending the congregation of Jumat-ul-Wida at historic Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, on June 23, 2017.
“It is for the first time in the recent history of Kashmir that Jamia Masjid was locked down on the occasion of Jumat-ul-Wida and the devotees who wait for the whole year to participate in this event were prevented by the authorities through the use of force to attend the same,” he said.
The spokesman said, on the basis of sheer use of force, the rulers are curbing religious as well as political rights which is highly condemnable.
He also condemned the arrest of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik.
