Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani has said that Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) was being used as a war weapon against Hurriyat leadership in the territory.
According to media sources, Syed Ali Gilani while chairing a meeting of the APHC executive body at his Hyderpora residence said, “NIA has no role and it is unjustified and illogical to drag it in Kashmir.” He said that the authorities were using this agency as a war weapon against leadership and to defame and discredit the freedom struggle.
The meeting was called to assess situation after recent raids by NIA on the residences of pro-freedom leadership. “They have crossed all limits and there is no legal justification for such arbitrary measures. Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, its leadership and cadre is the main target of the authorities. It is a pre-planned psychological crackdown so that we surrender and stop voicing the sentiments of our people, thereby covering and shielding their atrocities and barbarism against common and unarmed people,” he added.
“We have no hidden agenda and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat represents political aspirations of people as such people generously support us. Our activities are open, transparent and based on political ideology,” Gilani said. “All these state sponsored tactics and coercive measures won’t deter us from pursuing our mission, nor these coercions, suppressive and aggressive measures will make us to surrender.”
The representatives of all APHC constituents including Ghulam Nabi Sumji, Bilal Sidiqee, Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar, Muhammad Yasin Ataie, Muhammad Shafi Rishi, Yasmeen Raja, Muhammad Shafi Lone, Muhammad Yousuf Nadeem, Hakim Abdul Rasheed, Ghulam Muhammad Nagoo, Muhammad Yusuf Naqash, Molvi Bashir, Syed Muhammad Shafi, Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah, Sheikh Zameer Ahmad, Ayaz Akbar participated in the meeting.
Meanwhile, Syed Ali Gilani Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, condemned the harassment of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader, Altaf Ahmad Shah by India’s National Investigation Agency and his summoning by NIA in the name of questioning. He termed the action as political vengeance.
