Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that the resistance leadership will continue to seek settlement of Kashmir dispute through tripartite talks in line with the relevant UN resolutions and the raids by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) on the residences of Hurriyat leaders and activists is a move to divert attention from the Kashmir dispute.
According to media sources, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq chairing a meeting of the Executive and General Councils and Working Committee of the forum in Srinagar said, raids and new ploys being adopted by New Delhi won’t suppress the resolve of pro-freedom leadership to keep representing the true aspirations of the people of Kashmir.
The meeting was attended among others by Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, Bilal Ghani Lone, Masroor Abbas Ansari, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and Musaddiq Aadil.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said, a reign of terror is being unleashed through beating students, arresting youth and conducted raids. This is ample evidence that all segments of society are involved in the movement and people of Kashmir want settlement of the Kashmir dispute, he added.
“Hurriyet leaders will not get bogged down by these tactics and will continue to represent the true aspirations of people of Kashmir till we achieve the goal of right to self-determination, which is our birthright,” he said, adding that New Delhi had declared Kashmir a war zone.
The meeting also took stock of the prevailing situation in the Valley especially the continued killing of young boys at the hands of Indian forces especially that of 12th class student, Aadil Magray, in Shopian. The participants of the meeting deplored that a witch hunt has been launched by Delhi against the resistance leaders, activists and traders by conducting illegal raids on their residences to intimidate them and to malign the freedom movement and demoralize the people.
They said that a viscous propaganda campaign has also been launched by Indian electronic media working at the behest of Indian state and its agencies to defame the people and the leadership and to mislead the Indian people by distorting the facts about the Kashmir dispute.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and members of his party Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee paid rich tributes to Shaheed-e-Masjid Molvi Mushtaq Ahmed on his 13th martyrdom anniversary.
